- Tampa Bay acquires the Advanced-A St. Petersburg Cardinals of the Florida State League, which will be renamed as the St. Petersburg Devil Rays.[1]

- Pitchers J.P. Howell and Jeff Ridgway were recalled from Triple-A Durham.[2]
