- Major League Baseball owners officially granted franchises to Tampa Bay and Arizona by a vote of 28-0, with their inaugural Major League seasons scheduled to begin in 1998.[1]
2005
- Pitchers Joe Beimel, Tim Corcoran, Gerardo Garcia, Jimmy Haynes, and John Webb, catchers Paul Hoover, Tim Laker, and Dan Massiatte, infielders Brandon Larson and Earl Snyder, and outfielders Brian Buchanan and Damon Hollins were assigned to minor league camp.[2]
- Pitchers Carlos Hines and Jon Switzer were optioned to Double-A Montgomery.[2]
2012
- Spring Training: Rays (2-5) tied vs. Baltimore (3-2), 3-3, at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, FL.[3]
