Tyler W. Bain (born October 11, 1974 in Agana, Guam) was a second baseman in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays minor league system. He was signed by the Devil Rays as an amateur free agent on June 18, 1996 by Fernando Arango.[1]

Before the Devil Rays

Bain had been selected out of Seward County Community College in the 82nd round of the 1994 draft by the New York Yankees, but opted to return to school instead of signing. There, he earned All-Tournament Third Team honors as an outfielder for his performace at the 1995 Junior College World Series (future Devil Ray Julio Lugo also earned Third Team honors that year).[2] Following the 1995 season, Bain transferred to Northwestern State University.

Professional career

Bain started his professional career with the Advanced-Rookie Butte Copper Kings in 1996, where he split time between the outfield and second base. He moved up to Class-A Charleston for the 1997, where he played second base exclusively; his offensive output declined sharply, though. He was again assigned to Charleston to begin the 1998 season, but he continued to decline offensively and was released after 4 games.

After the Devil Rays

In May, 1998, Bain signed with the Duluth-Superior Dukes of the independent Northern League where he played 14 games at shortstop. He did not return to professional baseball afterward.
