- Adam Sisk, the first player ever signed by the Devil Rays, was released (having never pitched for the franchise). Also released were Robin Cope, Kelvin Mitchell, and Octavio Blanco.[1]
- Roberto Colina was placed on the disabled list for Advanced-A St. Petersburg; Sam Voita was activated from disabled list.[1]
1999
- Pitchers Tony Saunders and Alan Newman were recalled from Triple-A Durham.[2]
2000
- Infielder Tony Graffanino was designated for assignment.[3]
- Pitcher Jim Morris was optioned to Triple-A Durham.[3]
- Pitcher Mark Guthrie was activated and added to the 25-man roster.[3]
- Outfielder Quinton McCracken was recalled from Triple-A Durham.[3]
